Scott Matern

Scott Matern was born and raised in New Jersey and lived most of his life there before moving to Pennsylvania about twenty years ago.  As a child, he always had a passion for drawing and painting.  During his teenage years, he became fascinated with motorcycles and enjoyed painting them.  Years later, Scott was drawn to fine art and began painting watercolors.  Due to the limited size of the paintings he could create, Scott moved on to another medium, oils.  “Now almost everything I do is in oil, and ever since, I’ve been able to develop a classic painting style.” [Read more...]

Carol Cosh-Harrison

Being born before the big development era that eventually overcame central NJ, Carol Harrison was able to experience exploration of the wooded areas that sprawled in back of her house.  She grew up in what was then considered rural Flemington, NJ, which allowed her the freedom in her young life to experience a very active interaction with nature-tree climbing, fort building, fishing in streams, and building little cities in dirt mounds.  Indoor activities always involved a pencil or crayon, or watercolors in little paint sets.  Before she was old enough to attend school, Carol remembers hours spent on the kitchen floor doing drawing after drawing, each time trying to make the next one better. Philip Jostrom

Three years ago, Philip Jostrom went to his old hometown in Massachusetts to look after his (then) ninety-two-year-old mother who was not at all well.  He had no idea what he was going to do to help pass the time until his good friend, Jane, suggested he paint.  “You’ve been talking about teaching yourself to paint for years.  Seems like now’s the time.”  She generously outfitted him with oil paints, brushes, canvases, and an easel, and off he went.  By the time his mother was recovered he had a not-very-good still life, his first, and two more that weren’t bad.  He took them to the River Gallery in Narrowsburg, N.Y., and to his astonishment, they sold   It seems that at the age of fifty-nine, he had found his groove. Ronald Parker

Ronald Parker is a man of many talents and accomplishments.  He studied at Vanderbilt University where he received his M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology.  For a number of years, he taught psychology (Florida State University and The Graduate Center of The City University of New York).  Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in two states, Dr. Parker also practiced as a therapist.
